Accountability spotlight: The rebel

Pt2 Of accountability types, The Obliger was pt 1 here

OK Rebel!

You've got fighting spirit! so how can you use that to get what you want?

Harking back to Gretchen Reubens rebel this particular type can work towards accountability by ensuring that their actions align with a clear set of principles and goals, by being transparent and open to criticism and feedback. They can also actively seek out and engage with those affected by their actions, and take responsibility for any negative consequences that may result. Additionally, they can work to build and maintain networks of support and solidarity, in order to hold each other accountable and ensure that the movement as a whole stays on track.

So its vital to a rebel, to hone in to their drivers, their values because those are the core reasons they do anything I mean that applies to everyone but for a rebel its even more apparent and I think that is wonderful to be able to just look inward scope out the drives and then use that rebellious confidence in those drives to get what you ned done AND be of help to those around you.

A rebel type can work towards accountability by:

  • Clearly defining their goals and principles and being transparent about them to others.
  • Being open to criticism and feedback, and actively seeking out and engaging with those affected by their actions.
  • Taking responsibility for any negative consequences that may result from their actions.
  • Building and maintaining networks of support and solidarity, in order to hold each other accountable and ensure that the movement as a whole stays on track.
  • Actively working to create a culture of accountability within the movement, through regular check-ins, debriefs and evaluations.
  • Encouraging other members of the movement to take leadership roles, share their perspectives and ideas, and provide feedback.
  • Holding themselves and others accountable for upholding the movement's principles, including nonviolence and inclusivity. Being willing to make changes and adjustments to their actions if they are not achieving their intended goals.

Again I'll state I don't think these labels are set in stone, I feel you can be a mix and you may use different 'types' in different situations and if you want to learn more head over here
